Americans trust farmers — but not always how they farm

Farmers and ranchers remain among the most trusted people in America, with public trust consistently above 80%, according to Farm Bureau and Gallup polling. But that confidence does not automatically extend to every agricultural practice.

With 98% of Americans having no direct connection to a farm, the industry risks losing trust unless producers explain how and why they farm. Polling suggests direct interaction with farmers can increase trust by nearly 20%.
