Rising costs push Pennsylvania farmers to reconsider their votes

Pennsylvania farmers supported Donald Trump by wide margins in the last two presidential elections but, as NPR reports, growing financial pressure may be weakening that allegiance.

A new survey found that 94% consider farm expenses a major concern, while 39% say they are open to voting differently in the 2026 midterms. The findings underscore the strain facing producers as fuel, fertilizer and other input costs rise — and suggest that farmers’ support cannot be taken for granted when policies affecting trade, energy and war reach the farm gate.
