Extreme weather pushes British farmers to the brink
Farmers in northwest England say increasingly erratic weather is making traditional agriculture financially unsustainable.
Merseyside grower Olly Harrison told the BBC he is losing as much as half his expected crop after three heatwaves and says most farms can no longer survive without additional income streams.
Other growers say they are investing in irrigation and alternative production methods, but agricultural advisers warn that sharply reduced harvests could ultimately push food prices higher.
