Difficulty Sourcing Seeds

• Several large multinational seed companies control most of the global seed market, while smaller companies have been pushed out.  This has reduced both choice and availability of seeds.
• Patents and licensing of genetically modified (GMO) seeds prevents seed saving.
• Federal support for breeding programs and seed improvement has declined, further reducing available non-proprietary seeds.
• Organic farmers are often unable to source the organic seeds they desire, and frequently plant using non-organic seeds.
